
The United Arab Emirates has reiterated its dedication to advancing the global energy transition and strengthening international cooperation to ensure energy security. This commitment was emphasized during the Second Meeting of the BRICS Committee of Senior Energy Officials, held in Brasília, where high-level representatives from member states convened.
Discussions at the meeting centered on balancing energy security with sustainable development while promoting a shift toward a low-carbon future. The UAE was recognized for its leadership in global energy supply security, energy transition, and hydrogen development.
The UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure presented the country’s achievements in the energy sector, highlighting its global leadership in universal access to electricity and clean cooking fuels, substantial investments in renewable energy projects, and advancements in energy efficiency. These efforts align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 7.
Participants also underscored the importance of implementing the “UAE Consensus” from COP28, which aims to triple global renewable energy capacity and double energy efficiency by 2030. These objectives align with BRICS’ vision for a sustainable and clean energy future.
