As Africa moves towards achieving reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy, Sungrow, a global leader in PV inverters and energy storage systems, is leading the way with innovative technologies that improve grid stability, lower energy costs, and broaden access to clean energy.
At the Solar & Storage Live Africa 2025 event, Sungrow presented its latest innovations, including solutions for utilities, commercial and industrial sectors, and home energy, emphasizing its dedication to providing scalable, cost-effective, and dependable renewable energy solutions that foster economic growth and enhance energy security.
Ezzat Sankari, Channel Business Director for MEA & CA at Sungrow, emphasized the company’s commitment to providing innovative and scalable solutions that support industries and communities in Africa’s growing energy demand. He highlighted that Sungrow’s technology ensures long-term energy security while facilitating a just and sustainable energy transition.
Transforming Africa’s energy landscape
One of the standout solutions making an impact in Africa is Sungrow’s PowerStack 200CS, paired with the SG150CX String inverter. Already deployed in sectors ranging from shopping malls to game lodges, this hybrid system provides uninterrupted, cost-efficient, and environmentally friendly power. Industries such as mining, data centres, and eco-tourism benefit from its seamless transition between grid and off-grid modes, stabilising frequency, reducing peak demand, and optimising energy costs.
Sungrow’s influence extends beyond individual installations. In South Africa, the company developed a 516MWh energy storage system, bolstering grid reliability and supporting South Africa’s renewable energy transition. Elsewhere, Sungrow has contributed to large-scale PV projects, such as Ghana’s large-scale rooftop solar project and two 100MW projects in South Africa’s mining sector, significantly cutting emissions and operational costs.
Advanced energy storage for a resilient grid
A key highlight of Sungrow’s latest array of innovations is the PowerTitan 2.0 energy storage system. Featuring AI-driven energy dispatch, it ensures grid stability while optimising renewable energy integration. By shifting stored solar and wind power to peak demand periods, the PowerTitan 2.0 reduces peak loads and minimises reliance on costly fossil-fuel backup power. These advanced storage solutions support South Africa’s Just Energy Transition goals, delivering long-term grid resilience and lower electricity costs.
Sungrow’s solutions extend beyond industrial applications, helping to bridge the energy gap in underserved communities. By deploying scalable solar and storage solutions, the company is powering essential services, supporting small businesses, and fostering economic resilience. Ezzat Sankari stated that the company’s goal is to bridge the energy gap and promote socio-economic growth by making clean energy accessible to all, regardless of their challenges.
Built for Africa’s unique energy challenges
Sungrow’s innovations are designed to withstand Africa’s diverse environmental conditions, including extreme heat, dust, and humidity. Sungrow delivers customized energy solutions designed to meet the diverse needs of every market segment, seamlessly scaling from residential solar-plus-storage systems for homes to robust commercial and industrial hybrid solutions for businesses, all the way up to massive utility-scale storage and solar farm installations that support national grids.
Ezzat Sankari concluded that by prioritizing scalability and longevity, the company ensures its energy storage solutions evolve with Africa’s growing needs. He added that through cutting-edge technology, global expertise, and strategic local partnerships, Sungrow remains at the forefront of driving a greener, more resilient, and energy-secure future for Africa.
