SPAN has release two new models of smart panels — SPAN Panel MAIN 40 +MID and SPAN Panel MLO 48 — that have 25-50% more breaker spaces than the original SPAN Panel. These new SPAN panels also include SPAN PowerUp software, which provides a flexible electrical foundation to make any new home “all-electric ready”.
“With more demand on our electric grid than ever before, we’re at a pivotal moment in our nation’s energy transformation,” said Arch Rao, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of SPAN.
These new models were designed specifically to address pain points for builders. According to builder estimates, the expanded product line can save home builders between $3,000 and $10,000 per site by avoiding the high cost of 400A utility service.
For one, the larger circuit capacity better meets the needs of newer, modern homes. But the SPAN Fleet Manager can also provide valuable data and insights for builders to help pinpoint problems and reduce service costs. Improved real-time data can also more efficiently resolving warranty calls.
PulteGroup, a top 3 builder in the U.S., is particularly interested in smart electric panels with advanced load management in many of its communities. PulteGroup is already a SPAN partner, sees the expansion of SPAN’s smart panel family as an ideal solution for new home builders.
“At PulteGroup, we are committed to building high-quality homes that are compatible with modern life – that means smart, flexible electrical systems,” said Kirk Hammersmith, National Director of Procurement at Pulte. “This larger, updated panel is the key to providing more homeowners with visibility, control, and savings on their utility bills.”
SPAN Panel features
360 degree home energy visibility, circuit-level control, and ongoing utility bill savings insights in the SPAN Home App.
SPAN Panel MAIN 40 +MID has a built-in microgrid interconnection device which simplifies solar and battery integration, eliminating the need for a separate component. Compared to standard panels, all SPAN Panel models offer up to 40% longer backup duration, and real-time flexibility during an outage.
Patent-pending SPAN PowerUp technology intelligently balances home energy usage and future-proofs the home. Even on standard 200A service, homeowners can upgrade their homes over time and install popular electric appliances like EV chargers and heat pumps without additional, costly electrical work.
The products are currently available for purchase by select buyers, with delivery beginning in April 2025.
