Invenergy, the largest privately held developer, owner, and operator of clean energy solutions, has announced the start of commercial operations at its 300 MW Delilah I Solar Energy Center in Lamar and Red River Counties, Texas. WEC Energy Group is the majority owner of the Delilah I project.

The electricity generated by Delilah I Solar will be purchased by Honda Motor Co., LTD (200 MW) and Tesla (100 MW) through virtual power purchase agreements (VPPAs) and delivered to the local grid. This collaboration highlights Honda and Tesla’s commitment to adding new generation capacity in Texas, supporting lower emissions, and advancing energy diversification across the United States.“Landowners and the larger local community were instrumental in Invenergy’s ability to reach commercial operations at Delilah I, create good jobs for Texans, and partner with WEC and automotive giants like Honda and Tesla to add more American energy to the grid,” said Bristi Cure, Senior Vice President, Renewable Development for Invenergy. “As the demand for electricity grows, Invenergy values every opportunity to support our customers’ operations with affordable, reliable, clean energy solutions that also generate meaningful economic impact for Americans across our project communities.”

“In North America, Honda is nearing its goal of sourcing 100% of its electricity from carbon-free sources,” said Daniel Bremer, carbon neutrality manager, American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “As we accelerate toward achieving carbon neutrality for all products and corporate activities, our 200 MW VPPA with Delilah I Solar Energy Center will significantly cut CO2 emissions from Honda U.S. auto manufacturing operations while adding more clean energy into the local grid.”
