ES Foundry, an American company focused on advancing U.S. solar by onshoring crystalline solar cell production, is continuing its market expansion with the signing of a three-year, 150-megawatt (MW) supply agreement with a leading national community solar developer. Under the terms of the agreement, the developer will purchase BNEF Tier 1 solar modules that incorporate ES Foundry’s domestically produced solar cells to support its growing portfolio of projects across the United States.

This agreement underscores ES Foundry’s ability to meet the increasing demand for high-quality, U.S.-made solar components, while also enabling developers to capitalize on the additional investment tax credit (ITC) for domestic content. As the U.S. solar industry grapples with ongoing supply chain challenges, ES Foundry is providing developers with a stable, cost-effective, and reliable source of solar cells.

Ken Johnston, VP of Sales, ES Foundry, stated, “With this agreement, our customer is setting an example for other solar developers to proactively solidify their domestic supply chain strategies. Developers need certainty, and our commitment is to provide them with a steady supply of high-quality solar cells so they can complete their projects on time and at scale.”

This milestone comes amid a period of unprecedented growth in the U.S. solar market. According to the latest data from the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) and Wood Mackenzie, the U.S. installed a record-breaking 50 gigawatts (GW) of new solar capacity in 2024, marking the largest single-year addition of any energy technology in more than 20 years. Solar now accounts for 66% of all new electric generating capacity added to the grid. As the market continues to accelerate, ensuring a steady supply of domestically manufactured components has become more crucial than ever.

For the developer, securing a reliable and consistent supply of high-quality, American-made solar modules featuring ES Foundry’s cells was vital for scaling its long-term clean energy projects. This partnership will help the developer expand renewable energy initiatives confidently, leading to long-term savings and sustainability for the communities it serves. With the push for domestic solar manufacturing seen as a critical step toward national energy independence, this collaboration strengthens the shared goals of building a more resilient and secure energy future.
